Founded in 1981, Acta Ecologica Sinica is a high-level professional academic journal of ecology authorized by the China Association for Science and Technology and undertaken by the Ecological Society of China and the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The noted ecologist Shijun Ma was the founding chief editor, whereas Bojie Fu from the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is the incumbent chief editor. Our journal publishes novel theories and original and innovative research in ecology. We follow the principle of “encouraging the exchange of diverse perspectives”, rely on and work with ecological researchers, explore the unsolved questions of ecology, set up a communication platform for studies on basic ecological theories, promote the further development of ecological research, serve for the cultivation and fostering of ecological research talents and knowledge innovation for the country, and contribute to the construction and development of the national economy. Acta Ecologica Sinica publishes mainly original and innovative research on important basic theories and applied research in ecology and its subdisciplines. We particularly expect excellent review articles that reflect developing directions in modern ecology, as well as research briefs; introductions of new ecological theories, methods, and technologies; reviews of new books; academic and research updates; and the introduction of opening laboratories, etc. Acta Ecologica Sinica has occupied a leading position in the subjects of ecology and China in several indexes for the evaluation of journals, and has been the most frequently cited core journal of natural science in China for 5 consecutive years. As an elite Chinese academic journal, it has also published the most articles in “China’s top 100 most influential excellent domestic academic papers” and has won numerous rewards at the national, provincial, and ministerial levels.
