ZHU Yongguan

ZHU Yongguan, Director General of Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, CAS. Born in Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province in August 1967, ZHU is an Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and a elected Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). He graduated from Zhejiang Agricultural University in 1989 with a bachelor's degree, obtained a master's degree in science from the Nanjing Institute of Soil Science, CAS in 1992, and received a PhD in environmental science from Imperial College London in 1998. From March 1994 to January 2002, he studied and worked at Queen’s University of Belfast, Imperial College London, and The University of Adelaide in Australia. He returned to China in January 2002 to work as a research professor at RCEES. He has served as the deputy director of the Institute of Urban Environment, CAS, then director general and party secretary of the Institute of Urban Environment. His research focuses on the interactions between soil, plants, and microorganisms, as well as the transport and transformation of pollutants in the environment, and the ecological and health effects of soil pollution. In 2002, he was funded by the National Natural Science of China for Distinguished Young Scholars. He has been awarded a number of national and international awards, such as the National Natural Science Award in 2009 and Von Liebig Award from the International Union of Soil Science . He has published more than 500 academic publications in international journals such as Science, Nature and its family journals, PNAS, Environmental Science & Technology, among others. His international papers have been cited >46,000 times, and his H-index is 111 (by March 2023, according to Web of Science).
 
 
FANG Zizheng

FANG Zizheng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, CAS. Born in July 1978, FANG graduated from Peking University with a Bachelor Degree in 2000. He then worked in the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA) and held the position as Deputy Director and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of CASIA from April 2013 to December 2014. He was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sub-Leading Group of the CAS Beijing Branch and Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee at CAS in the Beijing Area in December 2014. In July 2017, he was named as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department for Party-related Affairs of CAS.
 
 
ZHAN Jian

ZHAN Jian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, CAS. ZHAN was born in May 1972 in Yushan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. He used to be the Director of Zhongguancun Sub-district Office, Haidian District, Beijing. In December 2011, he became the Deputy Director of the Administrative Bureau of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). From April 2020 to March 2023, he served as the Deputy Director of the General Office of CAS.
 
 
SONG Maoyong 

SONG Maoyong, Deputy Director of Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, CAS. Born in Shandong Province in 1978, SONG received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Shandong University in 2000 and 2003 respectively, and in 2006 he was conferred a Doctor of Science degree by Research Center for Eco-environmental Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).Prof. Song mainly engages in environmental analysis and the study of biological effects of environmental pollutants. He has published more than 110 SCI publications and has led multiple national scientific research projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Excellent Young Scientists Fund and National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars,the Strategic Priority Research Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences,National Key R&D Program,National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program), etc. He has been awarded many prizes and honors including Award for Outstanding Achievements in Science and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Second Class Award of National Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award and others. He currently serves as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the ACS journal Environment & Health, an editorial board member of the journal Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety, and a youth editorial board member of  Journal of Environmental Science.
 
 
HU Chengzhi

HU Chengzhi, Deputy Director of Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, CAS.Born in December 1976, HU was conferred a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree by Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University in 2000 and 2003 respectively, and in July 2006, he received a Doctor of Engineering degree from the Research Center for Eco-environmental Sciences (RCEES), CAS. He serves as a member of the "14th Five-Year" Science and Technology Development Plan Preparation Group of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment(MEE) and a member of the Environmental Technology Forecasting Expert Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). He is also an editorial board member of Environmental Research, Journal of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the chairman of the Youth Editorial Board of Chinese Journal of Environmental Engineering. Prof. Hu mainly engages in the research of principles and engineering applications of water pollution control and resource utilization technology. He focuses on the fundamental theories and engineering technologies of water treatment membrane separation, electrochemical water treatment and resource utilization, and water environment simulation and ecological restoration. In recent years, he has led more than 20 national and enterprise programs, including National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and National Key R&D Program. He has published more than 130 publications in top journals such as Sci. Adv., JACS, and Environ. Sci. Technol. He has been granted 32 invention patents, and his technical achievements have been successfully applied in more than 60 water treatment engineering projects. He has won numerous important scientific and technological awards, such as the Second Class Award of State Technological Invention Award, the First Class of the Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award, the First Class Science Research Famous Achievement Award in Higher Institution, the First Class of the Environmental Technology Progress Award of China Association of Environmental Protection Industry(CAEPI), the Special Prize of the China Urban Water Association (CUWA), and the China Patent Excellence Award.
