Environmental Impact Assessment Department of RCEES, formerly Environmental Impact Assessment Department of CAS was established in 1986. It has the 1^st Class environmental impact assessment certification of Ministry of Environmental Protection, P.R.C., and is one of the earliest institutions which engage in environmental impact assessment in China. The serial number is “1^st Class No. 1006”. The department has 13 registered environmental impact assessment engineers, 23 employees with on-job certification.

Scope of assessment:

(1) Social Region:

—Real estate, parking lot、sewage treatment plant, urban solid waste treatment、tap water production and supply, import waste disassembly, landscape architecture, urban construction and comprehensive improvement programs；

—Health, sports, culture, education, tourism、entertainment, business, catering, social welfare, social service facility, exhibition center, museum, play field, etc.

—watershed development, coastal zone development, land reclamation, breakwater dam, new city construction, urban renewal.

(2) Communication and transportation：

－Railway, highway, subway, urban transportation, bridge, tunnel, harbor, dock, sea-route, water transportation hinge.

－line pipe, channel, fiber and cable, warehouse construction.

－civil and military airport.

(3) Agriculture, forestry and water conservancy:

—Agricultural, forest, animal husbandry, piscatorial resource development.

—Desertification prevent and control project.

—reservoir, irrigation, dam, hydroelectric and tidal power generation project.
