(1) Developing and promoting the applied basic scientific theory of flocculation

Firstly the formation function is put forward as the basic structural form index to develop corresponding calculation and technological index system. It is found that the Al13 in poly aluminium chloride (PAC) has relative morphological stability and nano-particle features. The flocculation mechanism of PAC is elucidated, and inorganic polymer flocculant is confirmed to be a sort of new variety with typical flocculation features. The instructive synthesized process rules are put forward, including the basic designing concept of complex flocculants, and the bridging and charg-neutralization abilities of enhanced flocculation. The flocculation integrated process theory and the new principle of interface contact flocculation are set up.

(2) Developing and breaking through several key flocculation technologies

The calcium aluminate process and pressurized acid digestion process of Al(OH)3 gel, and the pure PAC granulating production process by spray-drying have been a generation of commonly-used technical system. The phosphate stablizers of PFCl are screened and initiated, and the PFCl flocculant of high stability and its production technology are invented. According to the mechanism of aluminum polymerization, the electrolytic preparation method for Al13 is invented and the nano flocculants with a Al13 content over 70%, and total Al concentration more than 2 mol/L is prepared. The hollow fiber UF membrane preparation method and purification method of fine chemicals are set up for Al13, and the new separation technology of Al13 of high purity is developed. And the combined polymerization between Si, Al and Fe is realized in the molecular level, and the complex flocculants of polyiron silicate and their preparation technology are invented. The whole series system of inorganic polymer flocculant is formed. Optimized adaption is strengthened between the new flocculants and their functional process to develop the flocculation integration system which is centralized at high efficiency flocculants, adapted by high efficiency reactors, and under the automatic flocculant dosage control system.

(3) Industrialization of floculation technology

The innovative achievements of high-efficient flocculants and flocculation technology are industrialized completely to build up the first domestic modern production line of polymer flocculants, which are respectively applied to many patented processes for the preparation of stabilizing PAC, PAC with Al13 of high content, polymeric aluminium-silica flocculants of high quality, and the first factory for them is built and thereafter comprehensively spreaded and applied. The high-efficient flocculation integration system is applied in the projects for the waterworks to develop a water preparation project of 40000 m3/d, which is defined as the leading process for 10 newly-built waterworks in Beijing. Fifteen manufacturing factories are built with flocculating technical achievements, and the added output value reaches over 500 million yuan RMB, and the profits are about 100 million yuan RMB, and the benefits are obvious.

The outstanding features of the project is to organize the whole series of flocculating technology made up of the morphological mechanism research of inorganic polymer flocculants, the development of new categories, the technical improvement of production equipment, water treatment process application, to realize systematic development of the fundamental research, technical innovation, industrialization. In the past 4 years, there are 125 research papers (31 papers collected by SCI) were published, and 23 invention patents were declared. This achievement has important influences in China and overseas, and the several concepts and technical innovation points mentioned above are in the leading position in the world.
