SCOPE will bring together invited experts, young early-career scientists, decision makers and practitioners from the civil society for the SCOPE-ZHONGYU Environmental Forum 2012 in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China on 11-14 October 2012.
This year will mark the 3rd edition of the SCOPE- ZHONGYU Environmental Awards, a 10-year programme inaugurated in 2010 to recognize and encourage outstanding scientists who have made significant contributions and expert knowledge for regional and global syntheses, new research and policy approaches, and solutions to emerging environmental problems. During the opening ceremony of the Forum, the 2012 laureates will receive their Awards in the Lifetime Achievements and Young Scientists categories.
SCOPE has cooperated with UNESCO and its subsidiaryorganizations in variety of fields and successfully cosponsored the SCOPE-ZHONGYU Environmental Forum 2011 in Yixing, China. The achievements and further courses of action on the protection of biosphere reserves and other natural and cultural resources will be discussed during the SCOPE-ZHONGYU Environmental Forum 2012.
A special workshop of SCOPE’s Journal Environmental Development will bring together authors to discuss their recent papers on China’s environmental performance.
