2012 Training Course in Water Quality and Sanitation
Oct. 21-Nov. 4, 2012
Beijing, China
Deterioration of drinking water quality and sanitary conditions is a serious challenge for all developing countries. With the great efforts devoted to solving these water quality problems, substantial progress has been achieved in China. To share and exchange the knowledge and experiences in abating these problems, the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) held the 2010 TWAS (Academy of Sciences for the Developing World) Frontier in Water Quality and Sanitation in Beijing, which has provided a good platform for water engineers and researchers from the developing countries. In order to further promote the share of experiences between China and other developing countries, RCEES will hold the 2012 Training Course on Water Quality and Sanitation in late October in Beijing. This training course consists of lectures, technical visits, and other related events. A network for the water engineers and researchers in developing countries will be reinforced through our continuing efforts.
Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), will act as the organizer. State Key Laboratory of Environmental Aquatic Chemistry (SKLEAC), one of the eight departments of RCEES, has become the authoritative organization in the field of water research in China. SKLEAC will be a key affiliation to facilitate the 2012 training course in water quality and sanitation.

Host organization:
RCEES is a leading academic institution dedicated to scientific research and graduate education in eco-environmental sciences and technologies in China. Since its establishment in 1975, RCEES has successively carried out a large number of research projects granted by the central government, CAS, local governments as well as some international organizations, and has made great contributions to the sustainable development of China. State Key Laboratory of Environmental Aquatic Chemistry (SKLEAC), one of the eight departments of RCEES, is famous for its academic status in water science and technology studies. It has established several centers, including "Drinking Water Science and Engineering Center" and "North Research Center for Rural Wastewater Treatment Technology, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development", for the purposes of integrating all of the related research resources to cope with the challenges in water supply and sanitation. SKLEAC will be a key affiliation to facilitate the 2012 training course.
