Brief introduction of Kornelia Smalla:

Prof. Smalla is senior scientist in Institute for Epidemiology and Pathogen Diagnostics, Federal Research Centre for Cultivated Plants, Germany, interested in the ecology and diversity of microbial communities and plant pathogens in response to environmental triggers, horizontal gene spread of bacterial antibiotic resistance genes and plasmids. She is Editor of several important microbiology journals. During 1993-2010, she has published over 130 SCI papers and 5 books.
