Dr. Bojie Fu was recently elected as an International Honorary Member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The announcement was conducted by Academy President David W. Oxtoby and Chair of the Board of Directors Nancy C. Andrews on 17th April, 2019. Out of the 214 individuals elected to the Academy in 2019, Dr. Bojie Fu is the only Chinese scientist that received such honor this year. Dr. Bojie Fu was elected as the Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2011, Fellow of the Academy of Sciences for Developing World (TWAS) in 2012, and Corresponding Fellow of the Royal Society Edinburgh UK in 2015. He is Chair of Steering Committee in Research Centre for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Dean at Faculty of Geographical Science, Beijing Normal University. He is also the Director-General in Department of Geosciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, vice President of International Geographical Union (IGU), and vice Chair of China National Committee for Ecological Protection and Restoration. Dr. Bojie Fu focuses on Physical Geography and Landscape Ecology. He published more than 400 scientific papers and 10 books, over 280 in international journals including Nature, Science, Nature Geoscience, Nature Climate Change. His achievements made significant contributions to the understanding of interactions between landscape pattern and ecological processes, land use change and ecological effects, ecosystem services assessment and management. His researches won the China National Natural Sciences Prize in 2005, National Sciences & Technology Advanced Prize in 2012, Award of Distinguished Service of International Association for Landscape Ecology in 2011, Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize in 2017.
