Prof. Donald Huisingh, Editor-in-chief of Journal of Cleaner Production, visited RCEES from December 11 to 15, 2013. Prof. Rusong Wang gave a speech on Introduction to the systematic approaches of SENCE (Social-Economic-Natural Complex Ecosystem), and discussed extensively with Prof. Donald Huisingh on the systematic approaches guided by the holism. Prof. Donald Huisingh gave a series of speeches and training courses on The GIANT challenges and opportunities for transforming cities into much more healthful and sustainable systems and SCI paper writing. Prof. Donald Huisingh systematically introduced the connotations, approaches, experiences, and implications in planning and managing healthier and more sustainable urban ecosystems. He also explained in detail on the procedures, techniques, cases, and notes on SCI paper writing to the students of RCEES. Then Prof. Donald Huisingh took one-on-one communications and discussions with the researchers and students of RCEES on scientific research, SCI paper writing, and future cooperation. Prof. Rusong Wang’s group discussed with Prof. Donald Huisingh on Urban Ecological Infrastructure for a Healthier City: Governance, Management and Engineering, to accelerate the writing and publishing of scientific papers of high quality. Prof. Donald Huisingh will again visit RCEES in 2014 to give speeches and training courses.  

Prof. Donald Huisingh is from University of Tennessee. He has published over 350 scientific papers, books, and videos. As the founder and editor-in-chief of Journal of Cleaner Production, Prof. Donald Huisingh is especially good at interdisciplinary education and systematic approaches on sustainable development. The research group of Prof. Donald Huisingh has conducted a number of studies on urban and industrial ecology, life cycle assessment, reduction of toxic substances, pollution prevention and eco-efficiency.
