Professor Paul R. Ehrlich from Stanford University and his wife Anne H. Ehrlich visited Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Science, on August 27, 2012. Professor Paul R. Ehrlich made an academic report entitled Environmental development and the millennium alliance for humanity and the biosphere: can a collapse be avoided. The report presented the main eco-environmental problems faced by humans, and their internal relations. Professor Paul also discussed a variety of approaches about how human can live with natural in harmony. More than 100 graduate students and researchers of RCEES attended this meeting, which chaired by Professor Ouyang Zhiyun, the deputy director of RCEES.
Professor Paul isa fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.Professor Ehrlich has received several honorary degrees, including the Crafoord Prize of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences which is called ecology Nobel Prize.His main research areas involved in population ecology, biodiversity conservation, environmental ethics, population - resources - environment crossover study and so on.
