Environmental problem has become a hot topic at the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), together known as Liang Hui. “SCIENCE” reported this matter recently. Prof. Yonglong Lu, an environmental management expert, who comes from Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Science, and now is the President of International Council for Science’s Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment, accepted an exclusive interview by “SCIENCE” on 12th March. They had a full range of exchange and discussion about the environmental problems. He said "I'm optimistic that we can start to bring development and environmental protection into harmony." The exclusive interview was presented in “China Amasses War Chest to Confront its Environmental Nightmares”, published on Science, 327(5972):1440-1441(2010).
