RCEES, CAS, formerly the Institute of Environmental Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences founded in 1975, is the first comprehensive research institution engaged in research on eco-environmental science and technology in China. In 1986, authorized by State Science and Technology Commission and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), it was amalgamated with Research Center of Ecology of CAS and was reorganized into Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter abbreviated to RCEES).

The Outstanding Young Talents Programme (Overseas) aims to attract and encourage overseas outstanding young scholars (including non-Chinese expatriates) who have made good achievements in natural science, engineering and technology to work in China.

Relevant fields: environmental chemistry, environmental big data, nanomaterials, environmental catalysis, AI technology of aquatic environment, biogeochemistry of aquatic environment, regional ecology, urban ecology, wastewater treatment and resource recovery, environmental biotechnology, environmental biology, solid waste disposal, environmental science and engineering, chemistry, ecology, microbiology, atmospheric science, soil science and other related majors and research directions

Qualification Requirements

Applicants should:

1. Obey the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China, have good scientific ethics, and self-practice the scientists’ spirit of the new generation.

2. Age 40 or younger.

3. Have obtained a doctoral degree;

4. Research interests are mainly science, engineering, technology, and related disciplines;

5. Before April 15, 2025, having no less than three years continuously research or teaching experience outside China in a prestigious university or R&D institute (Exceptions will be given to applicants who have obtained the doctor degree overseas with extraordinary research achievement);

6. Are living outside or hadn't returned to China before the 1st of January, 2024 and willing to work full time for three years in China with no other full time employments outside China.

Supporting Policy and Benefits

Funding: at least RMB 1 to 3 million from national research funds，more from CAS and RCEES start-up funds

Duration: 3 years

(2) Provide housing allowance and staff residential apartments in the future;

(3) Provide children’s school assistance;

(4) Provide office and scientific research platform, and supply experimental environment;
