The Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences is seeking an Editor-in-Chief (EiC) for its journal “Journal of Environmental Sciences (JES)” through a global search process.
Journal of Environmental Sciences (JES) has published original, peer-reviewed research papers and reviews on environmental sciences, such as environmental chemistry, soil chemistry, atmospheric chemistry, environmental biology, ecotoxicology, and geosciences, since its inception in 1989. The aim of JES is to provide an international platform for environmental scientists to present their latest research results in the frontiers of environmental science and technology, and promote the exchange and communication on development of new and novel theory, methodology, and applications among the environmental scientists from the different regions of the world. JES is aiming higher at present. In order to attract more high quality papers from outside China, and enhance its internationalization of editorial board and peer-review experts, the JES sponsor has decided to open the Editor-in-Chief position globally through an open, transparent and fair competition.
Eligibility for EiC
• Known expert in area(s) covered by the journal;
• Compelling vision, creativity, leadership ability and communication skills;
• Previous experience of international journal(s);
Primary responsibilities
w Form an international editorial board
w Commission high quality articles
w Introduce JES to a wider audience
w Make editorial policy to bring the journal to a new and higher level
w Make final decision on article publication

The latest date for acceptance of a letter of interest is 30 June 2014, and the open call for application will be lasting for 30 days. All the applications will be reviewed by the JES EiC Search Committee, short-listed candidates will be notified for interview, and final decision will be made after the interview.
