Peng Hanyong, graduated with a bachelor's degree from Wuhan University in 2008. In 2014, he obtained a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Wuhan University. From 2011 to 2013, he studied abroad at the University of Alberta in Canada. From 2015 to 2020, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Alberta in Canada. Since 2021, he has been working at the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas) in 2021. His research covers multiple disciplines, including analytical chemistry, environmental toxicology, and biochemistry, focusing on cutting-edge environmental and health science issues. He has achieved the following academic accomplishments: 1) Proposed a mass spectrometry identification strategy for unknown arsenic species and discovered a new class of arsenic feed additive metabolites in complex biological matrices. This research has revolutionized the understanding of the safety of arsenic feed additives and was featured on the front cover of Angewandte Chemie International Edition. 2) Invented RNA enzyme nanomachines, overcoming the application bottleneck of artificial RNA nanomachines in live cells. The paper published in Nature Communications was recognized as the "first RNA nanomachine working inside living cells" and as a leader in the field of molecular machine research for programmable therapy. It has been cited over 400 times. 3) Constructed photo-controlled RNA nanomachines, improving the spatiotemporal specificity of CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing. He also expanded the protein corona nanomachine intracellular delivery system, with publications in ACS Nano and Angewandte Chemie International Edition. His research papers have been published in journals such as Nature Communications, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, ACS Nano, Environmental Health Perspectives, Analytical Chemistry, and Environmental Science & Technology. He also holds several US patents. He serves as a junior editor for journals such as Analytical Chemistry, Journal of Environmental Sciences, Environmental Chemistry, and Chemical Research in Chinese Universities.
The research aims to focuse on cutting-edge environmental and health science issues and overcome technical bottlenecks in studying the toxicity, functionality and health effects of key molecules in complex environmental and biological systems.
