His publications include five ESI Highly Cited Papers, and he has an H-index of 48 with total citations exceeding 7000.
Dr. Yu’s research focuses on reaction mechanisms and innovative technologies in water treatment, with particular emphasis on flocculation mechanisms and membrane fouling control in drinking water treatment. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Water Supply and Drainage Engineering from Wuhan University and his Ph.D. from Harbin Institute of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Guibai Li, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. During his Ph.D., he studied as a joint Ph.D. student at University College London (supported by the Simon Li Scholarship) under the guidance of Prof. John Gregory and Dr. Luiza Campos. In 2010, he joined RCEES, Chinese Academy of Sciences, working in the group of Prof. Jiuhui Qu, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE). At the end of 2012, with the support of Prof. Qu, Dr. Yu obtained the highly competitive Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowship from the EU (award rate <10%) and conducted research at Imperial College London, UK, under Prof. Nigel Graham. In January 2018, Dr. Yu returned to RCEES, where he now leads a research group.
