Xiaodong Chen is Professor at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University, and completed his postdoctoral research at Harvard University. He was an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before joining the RCEES. Dr. Chen’s research focuses on Coupled Human and Natural Systems, and includes topics such as ecosystem services, nature capital valuation, natural resources management, sustainability science, systems modeling and simulation, remote sensing and GIS. He has published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Science and PNAS.
