He is the member of the Academic Degree Committee of the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, deputy director of the Beijing Forest Ecosystem Positioning Research Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the Chinese Society of Ecology, deputy director of the Landscape Ecology Committee, director of the Youth Work Committee, member of the National Wetland Science and Technology Expert Committee, Member of the National Committee of the People's Republic of China on Man and Biosphere, Member of the National Committee of Experts on Wetland Science and Technology, Part-time Researcher of the Institute of Nature and Ecology of Heilongjiang Academy of Sciences, Member of the Academic Committee of the Open Laboratory of Forest Plant Ecology (Ministry of Education), Northeast Forestry University, Binzhou College Member of the Academic Committee of the Yellow River Delta Eco-Environmental Research Center (Shandong Province) Laboratory, Journal of Applied Ecology, Journal of Ecology, Biodiversity Journal, Journal of Beijing Forestry University (Natural Science Edition), Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Urban Forestry, Vice Chairman of the China Branch of the International Society for Landscape Ecology, and Deputy Director of the Environmental Geosciences Branch of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences.

In 1996, he obtained a Ph.D. in Plant Science (Plant Ecology) from Northeast Forestry University. He was a postdoctoral researcher (Landscape Ecology) at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 1996 to 1998 and Lauren University in Canada from 2001 to 2002. The research field is landscape ecology, and has achieved certain innovations in landscape pattern analysis, biodiversity distribution, ecosystem restoration, urban ecology, and nonlinear ecological models. The clustering and affinity analysis methods for the gradient distribution of mountain forest landscape pattern and the (multiple) fractal analysis method for biodiversity scale variation are proposed. The concept and design method of regional ecological security pattern and species screening for ecosystem restoration are proposed. Methods: The effects of drainage network on wetland landscape pattern, species diversity, and water environment were studied comprehensively. The relationship between urban landscape pattern, non-point source pollution, lake water quality and water ecosystem health, and cities were systematically carried out. Planning management research on non-point source pollution; early application of fractal model system to carry out spatial pattern analysis of forest and grassland in Northeast China, won the second prize of 2004 Heilongjiang Provincial Science and Technology Award; hosted and participated in the National Natural Science Foundation of China More than 20 projects, such as group projects, knowledge innovation projects of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, national key basic research development planning projects (973), and national science and technology support projects, have published more than 130 research papers in academic journals at home and abroad. In 2008, he won the first Youth Ecologist Award of the Chinese Society of Ecology. In 2009, he won the first Youth Ecology Science and Technology Award from the Chinese Society of Ecology.
